Is it time to replace your furnace or air conditioner?

Are these specials right for you? It can be difficult to gauge if you need a new furnace or air conditioner. You don’t want to replace a system that has good years left but you don’t want to wait so long that you’re stuck without heat during a cold snap or AC during a heat wave.

Signs a furnace or AC needs to be replaced

If your furnace or AC is over ten years old and showing any of the following warning signs, it’s probably time for an upgrade. The rule of thumb our HVAC professionals use is that a system should be replaced if it’s lasted over three-quarters of its projected lifespan OR if the anticipated repairs cost more than a third of the replacement cost. Additionally, if you’re noticing any of these signs, you may want to call in a professional:

  • Unusually high utility bills
  • Uneven or inconsistent heating
  • Unusually loud sounds, like buzzing, rattling, or humming
  • Excessive dirt and debris on surfaces
  • Frequent repairs
  • Rapid on/off cycles
  • Reduced air flow
  • Uncomfortable home

Benefits of replacing a furnace or AC

A new furnace or air conditioner lets you live comfortably and worry-free. Don’t stress about your house being too cold/hot or having uneven temperatures certain rooms. A new system will reliably heat or cool your home. Even better? Your new system will be more efficient than your old model so your utility bills will be lower. Depending on the model you’ve chosen, you may enjoy the benefits of smart technology, such as predetermined settings and conditions that make it easy ensure to your home is always comfortable and always energy efficient.

Is a heat pump right for your home?

A ductless heat pump, which can both heat and cool a home, transfers warm and cool air between the outdoors and the indoors. Warm outside air is pumped inside during and winter, and in summer, inside warm air is transferred outside. Heat pumps transfer air between a house and the outdoor. They don’t generate any heat at all, which is why they’re extremely affordable to operate.

Heat pumps are a good option for homes that don’t have ductwork already installed. They’re also great for home additions, ADUs, rooms that are irregularly occupied, or if the existing heating system is too expensive.
